Stage 4

White Castle will be visited on this stage and it will provide the Monmouthshire Way walker with far reaching views, particularly to the north and west. Whilst its history is long, the 20th century saw it visited by a most unlikely individual. Following his imprisonment having flown to Great Britain from Germany in order to broker peace.

White Castle was regularly visited by Rudolph Hess where he was allowed to sketch during his stay at nearby Maindiff Court Hospital. Continuing north-west, views of Skirrid and Sugar Loaf dominate to the west and the route continues to undulate to reach the church of LlangattockLingoed. From here it is a straightforward descent to Pandy after which the Monmouthshire Way will enter the Brecon Beacons National Park.
